Felzenberg family and United States President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush listen to a performance by Kol Zimra, an a cappella choir which sang two Chanukah songs, at the White House in Washington, D.C. on December 9, 2004. For the past three years, the President has participated in a Menorah lighting before the annual White House Hanukkah Reception. Her father, Captain Shmuel Felzenberg, is serving in Iraq as the senior Jewish chaplain with the United States Army's 84th Engineer Battalion, from Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Captain Felzenberg is scheduled to return home in January. The four-foot-tall sterling silver Menorah is on loan from the Boca Raton Synagogue in Boca Raton, Florida. The Menorah was made in Israel and purchased for the synagogue by two congregants, Nachman and Jamie Feig. Because tonight is the third night of Chanukah, the lighters will light three candles and the shamash, the main candle.
