Astronaut Sally K. Ride, STS-7 mission specialist, exits the Shuttle Mission Simulator (SMS) following a training session in the Johnson Space Center's Mission Simulation and Training Facility on May 23, 1983. She and four other astronauts are on a very busy schedule of training in preparation for NASA's first five-member Shuttle crew. Launch is scheduled for June 18. The crew consists of astronauts Robert L. Crippen, commander; Frederick H. Hauck, pilot; and Dr. Ride, John M. Fabian and Dr. Norman E. Thagard, mission specialists.
