Hillary Rodham Clinton

Hillary Rodham Clinton was painted by Simmie Knox in 2003 from sittings in the Clinton home in Washington, D.C. Her left hand rests on the back of an early-nineteenth-century armchair from the White House collection. Her right hand touches a table exhibiting a service plate from the Clinton state china service; a copy of Mrs. Clinton's 1996 book, "It Takes A Village: And Other Lessons Children Teach Us"; and a piece from a hand-blown glass basket set by American artist Dale Chihuly. These items symbolize the White House, Mrs. Clinton's work with children, and her involvement in the arts. The portrait was unveiled at a ceremony the White House in Washington, D.C. on June 14, 2004. .Credit: Ron Sachs / CNP
