President George H.W. Bush

United States Vice President George H.W. Bush reads the result of the Electoral College vote during a Joint Session of the United States Congress on January 4, 1989.  Bush received 426 electoral votes and his Democratic opponent  Michael Dukakis received 111.  Bush was thereby elected the 41st President of the United States.<br />
