President Gerald R. Ford

United States President Gerald R. Ford holds a press conference in the Rose Garden at the White House in Washington, D.C. on October 9, 1974.  The President said he did not think the country was in a depression and that inflation would be reduced in 1975.  He also said his proposed 5% tax would not extend beyond 1975.  Ford is wearing a red button with the letters "WIN" on his lapel.  "WIN" stands for "Whip Inflation Now".<br />
