Chantilly, Virginia - December 5, 2003 -- A television crew walks past a Lockheed SR-71A "Blackbird" aircraft at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia on December 5, 2003. The SR-71 flew higher and faster than any other aircraft. It was used for reconnaissance missions during the Cold War and thereafter. This Blackbird accrued about 2,800 hours of flying time. It set the a speed record, flying from Los Angeles, California to Washington Dulles International Airport in Chantilly, Virginia on March 6, 1990.
